PROGRAM DIRECTOR



One full-time faculty member in each program area is appointed to serve as a Program Director on an annual basis, with a supplementary contract. The program may be a single program with or without multiple options or a cluster of academic programs which have many common courses in the same general field. Each Program Director chairs the team of program faculty, if there are others, leading in the curriculum and assessment responsibilities and program promotion, as well as representing the program to other internal and external personnel. The Program Director reports to and is evaluated by the Division Chair. The Program Director fulfills the following leadership responsibilities, which are beyond those of other full-time faculty and are evaluated in their administrative responsibilities separately from their instructional responsibilities. In carrying out the responsibilities, the Program Director is expected to enforce the applicable federal and state laws, policies and guidelines of the WV Board of Directors, accrediting agencies, and the College.



1. Recommends program advisory committee and the program team membership to the division chair.



2. Organizes and chairs meetings of program team members and other faculty and staff as well as advisory committees, as needed, for the purpose of reviewing and developing recommendations regarding academic program issues, including: course descriptions, goals, entry and exit competencies, curricular and co-curricular experiences, ongoing assessment, program implementation locations and times, program delivery systems, and equipment, supplies, and other learning resource needs.



3. Coordinates the planning and implementation of orientation for program students as well as provision of program specific information to appropriate personnel for use by advisors, counselors, and public information personnel interpreting the program to students preparing for or interested in the program.



4. Serves as the liaison program representative with specialized accrediting and other program related external agencies and with transfer college departmental representatives.



5. Completes self-study reviews and reports for national and professional accrediting programs and coordinates on-site program visits.



6. Assures that the program meets the requirements of specialized accrediting agencies, when applicable, and other applicable agency requirements, workplace and transfer colleges. This includes the responsibility to interpret and clarify these requirements to WVNCC colleagues and applicable standing committees.



7. Provides recommendations and materials needed to complete self-study reviews and program review reports, in coordination with the Associate Deans.



8. Serves as the program liaison with other WVNCC leaders, including Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, Divison Chairs, Career Services Officer, Job Development Specialist, marketing and research staff, chairs of Academic Affairs and Assessment Committees, and others, as appropriate, for purposes of gathering and disseminating information needed for program faculty planning and for coordinating with those personnel for research, state and accrediting reports, marketing, transfer, and job connections in support of program development, maintenance, review, and accreditation.



9. Assists the division chair in identification of potential part-time and full-time program faculty, in orientation of part-time and new full-time program faculty, and in evaluation of part-time program faculty.
