Faculty Senate Executive Committee

Present: T. Danford, K. Herrignton, V. Larson, B. Matey, D. Poffenberger, S. Rychlicki, A. Secreto, C. Stokes (presiding), A. Thompson.

Excused: C. Bonfini-Hotlosz, J. Cisney, T. Craig, M. Grubor, R. Jennette, P. Sharma, C. Teaff.

C. Stokes called the meeting to order at 2:05 p.m. on Friday, 17 October 1997, in Culinary Arts, Wheeling Regional Campus. Minutes from the September meeting were distributed and approved with minor corrections ( Rychlicki/Matey).

• 1. FERC report: T. Danford reported that the FERC has a draft of attachment 2 for the Senate. He also indicated that attachment 1 is being reviewed by a subcommittee. The time line for attachment 2 is for discussion during November and December, with a revision to come to the full committee in January 1998.

• 2. Strategic Plans/Governance Council: C. Stokes reported that the strategic planning process is underway, that B. Matey represented the Senate at the meeting on 3 October. C. Stokes will be able to attend the meeting scheduled 28 October.

There are also Governance Council meetings scheduled for November.

• 3. Special Task Forces: C. Stokes reported that two special task forces have been formed by the President. The first, Task Force on Committees, consists of S. Rychlicki and A. Secreto (faculty), Joan Ullom and Darrell Causell (classified staff), John Jones and Phil Mancha (administrators) and Garnet Persinger, chair. The President has written a white paper that will be the starting point for discussion.

The second, the Major Administrators' Evaluation Task Force, consists of T. Danford and C. Stokes (faculty), Donna Hawthorne and Gerry Gray (classified staff), Michele Wetherald and Sharon Bungard (administrators) and Garnet Persinger, chair. Both of these task forces have until February 1998 to make recommendations to the President.

• 4. Information Items:

The Advisory Committee luncheon has been postponed until Spring Semester (it was usually held the first Friday of November, but conflicted with the Community College Association annual conference).

There has been on Liaison Committee meeting date set yet.

• 5. Committee Reports: committee reports will be given at Senate for all of the standing committees, the ad hoc committees and of course, the ACF.

• 6. Adjournment: With no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 3:45 p.m. The next regularly scheduled meeting of the executive committee is Friday, 16 January 1998, at 2:00 p.m. in Culinary Arts, HA, Wheeling Regional Campus.
