Senate Minutes: 26 October 2001

C. Rogerson called the meeting to order at 2:05 p.m. in the Culinary Arts room, Hazel Atlas Building, Wheeling Regional
Campus.
- Minutes: The minutes from the 21 September 2001 meeting were approved
- Agenda for Executive Committee with Dr. Hunter: Items to be placed on the agenda were discussed and received no
objections. Items include merit pay issues, Faculty Handbook revisions, the role of the Faculty Senate, and faculty input
in hiring and firing-It was reported that there is a history faculty input through committees.
- Meetings: The Senate Executive Committee will meet with Dr. Hunter at 1:00 p.m. in the B&O building; the faculty will
meet with the Provost to discuss advising at 2:00 p.m. in the B&O building; Center meetings will be held at 3:00 p.m..
- Higher Education Policy Revisions: C. Rogerson pointed out that the Policy Commission in Higher Education document
is available for perusal in the library. Comments must be submitted no later than 31 October.
- College Fair: E. Gast reported that Northern's participation in the recent College Fair was quite successful. She provided
a description of the packets that were distributed and commented on the success of the promotional materials.
- B&O Windows: C. Rogerson reported that there is a drive by the Friends of the College to do something about the
abysmal state of the windows in the B&O building. A. Vavra pointed out that Congressman Mollahan's (sp?) assistant is
looking at the situation, and there my be federal funs available.
- Adjournment: With no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 2:35 p.m. (Honeman / Goldstein). The next
regularly scheduled meeting of the Faculty Senate will be in January 2002.
