Faculty Senate Executive Committee
Minutes
20 November 1998
Present: T. Danford, M. Grubor R. Honeman, R. Jennette, V. Larson, R. Lucki, G. Pickett (presiding), S. Rychlicki, A. Secreto, P. Sharma, C. Stokes, C. Teaff, A. Thompson, T. Vavra.
Excused: R. Berry, P. Canary
Absent: D. Poffenberger
G. Pickett called the meeting to order at 2:05 p.m. in the HA board room, Wheeling Regional Campus. Approval of the minutes from the October meeting were deferred until the next full senate meeting. 1. Academic Calendar: G. Pickett reported that the academic calendar for 1999-2000 has been changed back to the B1 option. Faculty will return on 16 Aug 99 and graduation will be on Mother's Day, May 2000. The ceremony will be scheduled earlier in the day.
2. Governance Council: G. Pickett reported on two Governance Council meetings. The strategic plan has been updated. A listing of policies under development was distributed. Several of these policies were discussed, particularly the Standards of Progress and the newly re-surfaced Sabbatical Leave Policy.
3. Faculty Workloads: Dr. Mancha has requested that an ad hoc committee look at the current workload policy and make recommendations. G. Pickett will convene this committee which will have representation from all divisions. Already serving on the committee are: P. Canary, K. Herrington, G. Norton, R. Sambuco, and L. Shelek.
4. Reports: The committee heard reports from the standing committees that had met since last Senate meeting. The ACF report was deferred until D. Poffenberger arrived.
5. Other: G. Pickett reported that the new tutoring coordinator left. This position is open once again. Concern was expressed about search committee procedures. G. Pickett was directed to write a letter of concern from the faculty about being included on all searches.
6. Adjournment: With no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 3:15 p.m. The next regularly scheduled meeting of the executive committee is Friday, 15 Janurary 1999, at 2:00 p.m. in Culinary Arts, HA, Wheeling Regional Campus.
