The meeting was called to order at 2:05 p.m. with M. Goldstein presiding.

1. Minutes - The minutes of the April 1999 meeting of the Faculty Senate were approved on a motion by W. Deibert and a second by M. Riley. They are located on the Senate webpage at http://www.northern.wvnet.edu/~tdanford/senate/.

2. Academic Administration Task Force Update - G. Persinger reviewed the documents distributed to full time faculty on All College day. Each of the three proposals was described and questions were answered. After G. Persinger and S. Becker-Gorby left, there was general discussion over the plans. No consensus was reached, however, there was strong support for the continuation of coordinators and directors.

3. Committee Assignments and Replacements - The following individuals were selected by the Senate to serve on the indicated committees (other faculty are appointed to standing and ad hoc committees by the administration):

4. Standing Committee Reports - no report from any of the five committees; none had met yet.

5. Professor Emeritus Policy - M. Goldstein reported that the draft Professor Emeritus Policy has been signed by the President and is in effect. Faculty Senate can nominate and recommend retired individuals who have been on the faculty for 10 or more years for this honor. On a motion by T. Danford, with a second by R. Berry, the following was unanimously approved:

The West Virginia Northern Community College Faculty Senate recommends to Dr. Linda Dunn, President, the following individuals as Professor Emeritus: Sr. M. Baird, Dr. J. Bannon, Dr. Carl Basham, Dr. D. Blauch, Professor Karl Jacobson, and Dr. Richard Morrison.

6. With no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 3:45 p.m. The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Faculty Senate will be 24 September 1999.
