<xxxx> Brackets will be used to enclose text variables (do not use the brackets).
example: <character_name> You would type and enter the name of a character.
'xxxx' Single quote marks delineate exactly what is entered (minus any brackets).
example: '@knock Danford' You would type and enter @knock Danford .
| The verticle line is used to mean "or".
example: '@send <character_name|character_number>' You could type and enter either @send
Danford or @send #4330.
LOOK
Look (l) should be used often: you can look at your location, look at other characters, look at any and all objects. Looking will give you the object's description. Often times that will lead you further.
examples: 'look me' will return your own description.
'l here' or 'l' will return the description of your location.
'l <character_name> will return the description of the character.
COMMUNICATING ON THE MOO:
1. say <xxxx> or "<xxxx> beginning a line with 'say' or a double quote symbol will display the text to all characters in the same room with you.
example: 'say Hi there! What's up?' will display <your_name> says "Hi there! What's up?"
'"Hi there! How's things?' will display <your_name> says "Hi there! How's things?"
2. to <character_name> or `<character_name> or !<character_name> will direct what you say to the character indicated.
example: 'to Danford I got done with that article you gave me.' ... everyone in the room would see: [<your_name> to Danford] I got done with that article...
The same could be accomplished by: '`Danford I got done....' or '!Danford I got done....'
3. page <character_name><message> or '<character_name><message> will send a private message to the character indicated. Paging works across the MOO, regardless of character location.
example: 'page Danford I got done!' Danford will see <your_name> pages "I got done!" The
same could be done using a ' instead of the word page. ' 'Cathy hi there!' sends the message "hi
there!" from you to Cathy.
4. whisper <message> to <character_name> This sends a private message to the character indicated if the two of you are in the SAME LOCATION.
example: 'whisper "can you believe this?" to <character_name>' will send the private whisper to
that character. You will see: you whisper "can you believe this?" to <character_name> and the
<character_name> will see: <your_name> whispers "can you believe this?"
5. emote or : In order to show emotions and tell the room a message without talking, the emote is used. The colon (:) can be used to replace the word 'emote'.
example: 'emote laughs out loud! would print to the screen: your_name laughs out loud.
Everyone in your location would see that. Instead of 'emote laughs' you could just type ':laughs'.
6. remote emote - +<character_name><emote text> will send the emote text to the character at another location.
example: '+Danford waves hello!' Danford will see: Your_name waves hello!
7. think <message> will display the thinking sign .o0 (message)
example: 'think wow, that's great' will display Your_name .o0 (wow, that's great)
