BUILDING AT DU
In order to create objects and effectively use DU, you must become a builder. Builder
status is awarded once basic MOO commands are mastered. There are several specific
requirements as outlined below.
First, refer to MOO Commands, MOO Manners, and MOO editors web pages (links on .../~tdanford/dumoo.html). Realize that commands beginning with an '@' are designated to go to the MOO core server (the computer running the MOO). These commands are always typed into the MOO, there is never any preceding punctuation, and never a space after the @.
Builder Status Requirements
- '@describe me as "You see xxxxxx.' OR edit on the web with Character Customizer option under List of Applications
- This description should be a short physical description; it is basically what others will "see" when you appear in a room or location.
- '@gender <male|female>' OR select the appropriate radio button in Character Customization on the web.
- Since DU is "reality based", please use your correct gender.
- '@info me is "xxxxxx.' OR edit on the web
- Your @info must contain the following: 1) your real name, 2) your email address, 3)
your affiliation with WV Northern, and 4) any further information that you choose to
share with the DU community.
If you are using the web interface, put this information in the additional
information text entry box. Don't forget to UPDATE.
- '@hometown me is "Wherever, WV.'
- Please set your hometown to your current residence (city, state)
- go to the Policies Library by typing '@go #1929' and hitting the enter key [Note: there is a space between the @go and the #1929 and to return to where you were, type @go home]
- read How to Become a Builder by typing 'read hbb' and hitting the enter key OR click on it and then click on Read
- '@subscribe *builders' will subscribe you to this mail-list
- The mail-list, *builders, will have hundreds of old messages; it is best to skip them; any new messages should be read. To skip: '@skip *builders'
- access the list of default messages http://www.northern.wvnet.edu/~tdanford/messages.htm
- change any or all of the messages; you must change at least one besides your @hometown message
- ask Danford to make you a builder... email, moomail, catch him online or in the computer lab
